Top 5 Summer Essentials

So, I thought I’d make a blog post on beauty products that I’ve currently been using that I consider as summer essential must-haves. I’ll be reviewing the pros and any cons of each product too and where I purchased them from.

1. Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil (28ml) – The Body Shop £15

This overnight serum oil is wonderful. It is runny and very oily so only a minimum amount is needed. I rub a few drops between my palms and then apply to a freshly cleansed face and let it seep into my skin. When I wake up in the morning the oil has been absorbed so well, leaves my skin so soft and gives a glowy look. I honestly feel like it slightly hides the appearance of my acne scars too!  Highly recommended [can use it with the Body Shop Facial Massager too].

2. Natural World Moroccan Argan Oil Miracle Face & Body (200ml) – Fragrance Direct £6.99

This oil is also “miraculous” as the name describes! Just like the Body Shop overnight serum oil, I usually apply this to a freshly cleansed face at night. It works well with the Body Shop Facial Massager too if you really want to massage the oil in. I find that this oil also does give the appearance of faded acne scars in the morning; however I still need to use it consistently over a longer period of time to see its other effects. I usually alternate between the 2 oils.

3. White Musk Libertine (30ml) – The Body Shop £4

One of Body Shop’s most popular fragrances; this perfume smells divine. It has a very sweet smell to it and is such a gorgeous shade of pink. A 30ml bottle for £4 doesn’t seem bad price wise particularly as the scent is strong that one or two squirts are enough to last the whole day. I find that during the day I can still smell traces of the perfume on me so it’s long lasting! Plus it’s so lightweight and tiny – a handbag must-have!

4. Revlon Colorstay 24H Foundation (30ml) [Combination/Oily skin] – Fragrance Direct £7.25

This is a new foundation I’ve tested out. I usually use Rimmel London’s 25H Lasting Finish Foundation which I have been using since I was in school. However, due to a shift in hormonal balance, for the past 6 months it has been making me breakout so I stopped using it and thought I’d try out a new foundation. For someone like me who has acne scars and blemishes, a high coverage foundation is very much needed but I also like my foundation to blend well and give a matte effect not a greasy finish! This foundation so far has been good to me. It gives me good coverage and although a bit runny it dries quickly and doesn’t leave my face oily so there’s no need to wear a powder on top. Moreover, it lasts the whole day and I can come back home after a long day at work and still have my foundation on. The downside is the foundation doesn’t have a pump so you have to tip it out onto the back of your hand. However, this can easily be fixed if you buy a pump for it.

5. Radiant Highlighter (25ml) – The Body Shop £6

This little highlighter works wonders. When I first received it in the post I was surprised at how tiny the tube was and thought “this better be good I paid 6 quid for this!” When I first tried it out, I cleansed my face properly and then just squeezed very small dots onto my finger and dotted my face with it. I then blended the highlighter in and I could already see a massive difference. This product made my skin glow as it should have done! I applied my foundation on top and you could still see the effects of the highlighter through my foundation. You don’t even need to add a highlighter powder on top of your foundation as this illuminates your skin already BUT you can always choose to add it for an extra shimmery radiant glow.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for my next blog post 🙂
